Revora Spanish Open Results: Top Seeds Szewczyk, Filler Fall

Iker Echeverria ended Wojciech Szewczyk's run and Ina Kaplan beat Pia Filler on a quarter-final morning of upsets in Gandia — Echeverria meets Felix Vogel and Luca Menn faces Mika van Berkel in Sunday's men's semi-finals.

Both top seeds are out in Gandia. Iker Andoni Echeverria rode the home crowd to an 11-7 quarter-final win over Euro Tour leader Wojciech Szewczyk, while Felix Vogel survived a hill-hill epic against Saturday's form man Mieszko Fortunski. Luca Menn and Mika van Berkel complete a men's last four that nobody would have drawn at breakfast — and in the women's event top seed Pia Filler's week ended too, beaten 9-5 by fellow German Ina Kaplan.

Mika van Berkel (NED) 11-7 Fabio Rizzi (FRA)

The knockout is race-to-11.

The morning's stories

Echeverria fells the favourite. The last Spaniard in the draw produced the result of the tournament, ending Szewczyk's week 11-7. The Pole arrived as Euro Tour rankings leader and top seed, unbeaten through the knockout, but Echeverria — who had come through the morning's losers' qualification just to reach the last 32 — held his nerve in front of a partisan crowd and closed it out. He is one win from a home final.

Vogel survives the tie of the round. Fortunski had been untouchable on Saturday, conceding just six racks across three wins including an 11-0 whitewash of Mateusz Sniegocki. Vogel, quietly efficient all week, went him all the way and took the deciding rack for an 11-10 win and a first Euro Tour semi-final of the season.

Menn ends the other home run. Last year's runner-up here beat world No. 3 and former world champion Francisco Sanchez Ruiz 11-7 on the streamed table 1. The German, who lost the 2025 final to Oliver Szolnoki at this same venue, is now two wins from going one better.

Van Berkel stops the giant-killer. Fabio Rizzi arrived off the biggest win of his week — ending Szolnoki's title defence on Saturday night — but the steady Dutchman held their tie throughout for an 11-7 win and the last semi-final place.

Women's event — Filler falls in all-German tie

Top seed Pia Filler's run ended in the quarter-finals, beaten 9-5 by Ina Kaplan in an all-German tie. Oliwia Zalewska joined her in the last four with a 9-4 win over Ukraine's Daria Siranchuk. The other two quarter-finals were still on the table at snapshot time: home hope Maria-Teresa Ropero trailed Sweden's Linnéa Hjalmarström 7-8, while Ana Gradišnik of Slovenia and China's Jiang Teng were locked at 8-8 — both races to 9.
