Revora Spanish Open: Friday Order of Play in Gandia

Radoslaw Babica vs Francisco Sanchez Ruiz heads a packed card as Qatar semi-finalists Wojciech Szewczyk and Daniel Macioł finally enter the tournament — and the women's event begins.

Friday is moving day in Gandia. The Revora Spanish Open runs eight consecutive men's sessions from 09:00 local (08:00 UTC, 4 a.m. ET), the winners' bracket playing down to qualification for the last 32 while the losers' side eliminates players all day — and the 52-player women's event joins the schedule from 10:45.

Babica vs Sanchez Ruiz — tie of the day

The pick of the 10:45 session pairs a wily veteran with the biggest name left in the draw. Poland's Radoslaw Babica sent former WPA world junior champion Yannick Pongers to the losers' side with a 9-4 win on Thursday, while world No. 3 Francisco Sanchez Ruiz followed a first-round walkover with a 9-4 defeat of Slovenia's Maj Badovinac. The winner plays winners' qualification at 19:30, one victory from a last-32 place.

The Qatar travellers arrive — and barely stop

The two men who played in Thursday's World Cup semi-finals in Doha begin their Spanish Open at 14:15. Wojciech Szewczyk, who leads the Euro Tour ranking, meets Germany's Niklas Dohr, while Daniel Macioł — beaten 11-10 by Albert Manas in Thursday's second semi-final — faces Syria's Delmon Khwaja, a hill-hill winner over Marcin Kwiecień in the opening round.

The bracket offers no breather: both winners feed straight into the two remaining winners'-round-two slots at 16:00, where Timothei Furko and Sky van den Berg wait with opponents still to be determined. Win there and a place in tonight's winners' qualification is at stake — three matches inside eight hours for the new arrivals.

Fellow Qatar entrant Konrad Juszczyszyn is already through. The Pole went from airport to venue on Thursday morning and still won twice — 9-3 over Matous Vlk and a deciding-rack 9-8 over Tobias Bongers. He plays Spain's Renzo Sierra at 09:00.

Defending champion and an all-Spanish opener

Oliver Szolnoki returns to the tables where he won this event 11 months ago — part of a fortnight in Gandia that also brought the Little Monster Mixed Doubles title with Zhang Muyan. The Hungarian, who told the EPBF he has not been home since July 24, scraped through 9-8 against Maks Benko on Thursday and meets Belgium's Johny Vanrijkel at 10:45.

The 09:00 opener is all-Spanish: David Alcaide, who conceded four racks in two Thursday wins, faces Raul Martin Muela. Two all-Polish ties join it — Hubert Lopotko, the surprise semi-finalist at this event 11 months ago, against Wiktor Zielinski, and Patryk Statkiewicz v Szymon Kural, who fell to Szewczyk in the Doha last 32 last week — while the 10:45 card adds an all-Dutch meeting between Marc Bijsterbosch and Mika van Berkel plus an all-German tie in which last year's runner-up Luca Menn meets Rainer Biermann.

Women's event begins — Filler the one to catch

The 52-player women's tournament starts with round one across the 10:45, 12:30 and 14:15 sessions, race-to-7 through the double-elimination phase. Top seed Pia Filler, who holds a 230-point lead at the top of the women's ranking, enters winners' round one at 16:00 against an opponent still to be decided by the day's play.

What Friday decides

By the close of play the last-32 field is set. The 16 winners'-qualification victors at 19:30 are joined by the 16 survivors of losers' round five at 21:30; single elimination, race-to-11, follows over the weekend at the €60,700 event — the final Predator Euro Tour stop of 2026 and the first season with WPA world ranking points on offer.
