Magpantay vs Szewczyk — the tie of the round
The pick of the card needs no selling. Defending champion Jonas Magpantay, unbeaten all week, meets WPA world No. 1 and two-time reigning world 10-ball champion Wojciech Szewczyk. Magpantay cruised through the winners' side before dismissing Hsu Jui An 11-4 and Alex Pagulayan 11-7. Szewczyk took the harder road — sent to the losers' bracket by Aivhan Maluto — then conceded just 12 racks across his last three wins, including an 11-4 all-Polish dismissal of 2025 runner-up Szymon Kural.
Two all-Filipino ties
Seven Filipinos reached this round and the bracket guarantees two quarter-finalists. Miguel Salvilla meets Jerico Bonus on Table 14 — Salvilla off an 11-10 hill-hill over Elliott Sanderson, Bonus off an 11-9 defeat of 15th seed Wiktor Zielinski — while Jundel Mazon plays Albert James Manas on Table 10, Manas the man who ended Mustafa Alnar's giant-killing week 11-5.
All-German derby and the rest
Joshua Filler has had the strangest week of the survivors: beaten by Alnar in round one, he tore through the losers' side — three racks dropped across two elimination matches — before removing Ameer Ali and Olivér Szolnoki. His reward is a Table-16 derby with Tobias Bongers, who rebuilt through the losers' bracket to remove Ruslan Chinakhov and Karl Gnadeberg.
No. 2 seed Carlo Biado, fresh from dethroning No. 3 Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, draws Konrad Juszczyszyn — survivor of an all-Polish hill-hill with Dominik Jastrząb. Fourth seed Fedor Gorst, one rack conceded in Tuesday's 11-1 rout of Mahmoud Charif, meets Hsieh Chia Chen — the man who beat Biado 9-8 in winners' qualification. Vietnam's Dương Quốc Hoàng, who removed 11th seed Robbie Capito, faces 2024 champion Daniel Macioł, and Rocky Tullao's back-to-back wins over Eklent Kaçi and Mario He earn him Canada's John Morra.
The field by the numbers

- Poland — 3: Szewczyk, Juszczyszyn, Macioł
- Germany — 2: Filler, Bongers
