Four days into the biggest week in American league pool, the 2026 Ultimate Pool USA Grand Finals has crowned its first two champions — and both came on the arena TV table at Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort. Margaret Fefilova-Styer took the National Women's Shootout on Monday, and Oscar Dominguez won the National Shootout late Wednesday night. Around them, the league championships and the open events roll toward the weekend.

## National Shootout: Dominguez 5-4 Cousins

Oscar Dominguez won the week's showcase invitational shortly after 11 p.m. ET on Wednesday, completing a comeback from 3-0 down to beat Tom Cousins 5-4 in the final — his fourth win of the day in a one-table sprint from the last 16 to the title.

Cousins owned the night's storyline before the final. He sent home the field's biggest name, Shane Van Boening, 6-3 in the quarter-finals, then ended Craig Waddingham's title defence 6-3 in the semis — Waddingham had dropped just eight racks across his first three matches of the week. One rack separated Cousins from turning a giant-killing run into the trophy.

Dominguez took the quieter route: 5-4 over Eric Charlton in the last 16, 6-3 over Joven Bustamante in the quarters and 5-3 over Declan Brennan in the semis.

The 32-player invitational played every match on the streamed TV table under the league's 30-minute match clock, with level scores settled by the format's six-ball shootout tiebreak — Brennan (against Justin Bergman) and Joe Prince (against Rodney Morris) both needed it in the last 16.

| Round | Winner | Score | Loser |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quarter-final | Tom Cousins | 6-3 | Shane Van Boening |
| Quarter-final | Craig Waddingham | 8-2 | Chris Melling |
| Quarter-final | Oscar Dominguez | 6-3 | Joven Bustamante |
| Quarter-final | Declan Brennan | 6-3 | Joe Prince |
| Semi-final | Tom Cousins | 6-3 | Craig Waddingham |
| Semi-final | Oscar Dominguez | 5-3 | Declan Brennan |
| Final | **Oscar Dominguez** | **5-4** | Tom Cousins |

## National Women's Shootout: Fefilova-Styer 7-2 Benoit

The week's first title went to Margaret Fefilova-Styer on Monday afternoon. The WPBA pro gave up just six racks across three matches in the eight-player, one-day invitational — 7-1 over Emily Duddy, 5-3 over Mary Talbot, then 7-2 over Ashley Benoit in the race-to-7 final for the $3,000 top prize. Benoit, the reigning Kansas City women's champion, collected $1,000.

## League Area Showdown: title decided late Monday

The opening night's other TV-table event cut 32 league areas to an eight-team knockout worth $6,000. Verified quarter-final scores: Jacksonville 5-2 over Indianapolis Metro and East Tennessee 4-2 over Salt Lake City, with East Texas vs Central Ohio and Northeast Indiana vs Atlanta North completing the last-eight card. The championship match closed Monday's late window; the full bracket is on DigitalPool.

## League championships: state of play at the cutoff

The week's money events were all in bracket play when this snapshot was taken:

- **8-Ball Teams** — the $282,000 centrepiece paying $112,000 to the champions, billed by the league as the biggest first prize in pool league history. Bracket play runs to Saturday's final.
- **10-Ball Teams** — a $90,000 purse with $35,000 to the winners; concludes Friday.
- **National Singles Leaderboard** — class-based singles (classes A–D plus Semi-Pro) in a multi-stage format; the 128-player 8-Ball singles field logged 64 bracket matches on day one. Concludes Friday.
- **National Pairs & National Mixed Pairs** — 64 pairs each, races to 6 with partners alternating shots; both conclude Friday, with $5,000 to each winning pair.

*State of play per the published Ultimate Pool USA schedule and wire reports; live bracket positions at the cutoff are on DigitalPool.*

## Thursday's card: Showdown on the TV table, National Open begins

Thursday is the week's busiest day. The National 10-Ball Showdown — a 16-player invitational played start to finish on the TV table — starts at 10 a.m. ET with a new match roughly every 45 minutes. The first-round draw: Van Boening vs Jesus Atencio, Roberto Gomez vs Dennis Hatch, Cousins vs Gerson Martinez Boza, Melling vs David Matlock, Bustamante vs Sofia Mast, Dominguez vs Rodney Morris, Justin Bergman vs Johnny Archer and Tyler Styer vs Skyler Woodward. Quarter-finals are listed from 6 p.m., the final at 10:30 p.m. — all times ET and subject to move on the day.

Away from the cameras, the 512-player National Open — a sold-out field chasing $20,000 — starts at 3:30 p.m. ET and runs through Sunday. Several Showdown names, Van Boening, Cousins, Styer and Bergman among them, are booked for double duty.

*Schedule and field per the DigitalPool bracket times reported by BilliardNews; the Showdown uses UPL 10-Ball rules on seven-foot tables with jump shots banned.*

## What happens next

Friday brings the 128-player National Women's Open and the conclusion of the pairs, 10-Ball Teams and singles programs; Saturday decides the 8-Ball Teams champion and opens the Junior Open; all three opens wrap on Sunday. Live brackets for every event are on DigitalPool.
